Safety Guidelines

CPS HR is following recommendations and guidelines provided by  California Department of Public Health.  We will update our website as policies are updated; please check here before taking your exam.

For everyone’s safety, we ask that all candidates comply with the guidelines below when taking the California Notary Public exam. Candidates must bring and wear a mask and acknowledge that they meet the health requirements to be permitted to test. Candidates who do not meet these requirements must reschedule their exam.

Candidates must bring and wear a face covering at all times.

  • Candidates who do not wear a face covering will not be allowed to test.
  • Any face covering where the nose and mouth is fully covered is acceptable.
  • CPS HR is unable to provide face coverings to candidates.
  • Proctors may request that candidates adjust their face mask to visually confirm the candidate’s identity during the registration process.

Candidates must attest that they are not currently experiencing any symptoms of illness and have not experienced these symptoms within the last fourteen (14) days.

  • Cough
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell

Candidates may bring and wear disposable gloves to the exam.

Candidates may bring personal sanitation items including hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes into your exam.

Candidates should maintain 6-ft social distance from other candidates.


CPS HR Consulting is the only organization contracted with the California Secretary of State to administer the Notary exam on behalf of the State of California.
